Bring on the next competition

15th March

"The 2010 competition season has really begun!

Since my last update I have competed at the Tyson American Cup in Massachusetts and at the London Open in London, where I achieved my highest score ever of 90.5!

Wednesday 3rd March

"Usually home to the Worcester Sharks Ice Hockey team, the DCU stadium Massachusetts was taken over by gymnasts from all over the world, for the Tyson American Cup 2010. I had given myself two days in the practice gym to get used to the American equipment before competing on Saturday.

"Being my first competition since November 2009, I was a little nervous. Having practised some new skills at Huntingdon, this was the perfect opportunity to try them out against a really strong field.

Saturday 6th March

"Overall I was reasonably happy with my routines on the day. I did fall on the Pommel and made a few small errors which resulted in a score of 88.65 and 5th place in the All Around.

"It wasn't quite the start I had hoped for but there were a lot of positives to take home. I was looking forward to building on there going into the London Open the following weekend.

Saturday 13th March

"Back on home soil! Goresbrook leisure centre in London was celebrating the 100th year of the London Men's Gymnastics Open. The competition is held over 3 days with over 200 gymnasts competing. In the senior competition, I was up against 50 gymnasts from Britain, Holland and France. Some tough competition.

"I had a storming competition! Despite a small error on the rings and parallel bars, I took Gold in the All Around and achieved my highest ever score of 90.5!!

"For the last 18 months I have been trying to break the 90 barrier, so this is a huge achievement for me. Now I can move onto my next target - breaking the 91.0.

"After a couple of competitions I am back into the swing of things. The next competition I will be competing for Team Huntingdon where we will defending our British team title.

"That's all from me; I am off to Lilleshall for a week's training now, so speak to you soon!"
