Gymnast, Daniel Keatings, made history at the World Championships,
winning Britain’s first ever silver medal in the men’s All Around final, on Thursday 15th October at
London’s O2 Arena.
Despite
his nerves Daniel was confident and strong throughout his routines. Unfazed
by a falter on the Pommel horse in qualifying, Daniel kept his cool and
his performances went without a hitch.
“I am speechless and just trying to come to terms with it all. The atmosphere was crazy”, says Keatings after his historic performance. He added, “It was a dream and now it has become reality, this is just a glimpse of what I can expect at the Olympics”.
Earlier this year, Keatings secured a sponsorship deal with Opus Energy. The financial support helps to cover the cost of coaching and training essentials, enabling him to dedicate his time solely to achieving success in gymnastics.
Andy Nash, Operations Director at Opus Energy said “Daniel’s success at the World Championships is fantastic news. It’s a credit to his continued hard work and commitment. We’re so proud to be supporting Daniel throughout this exciting time. As a World Championship silver medallist he could be a star of London 2012.”
Due to the men’s apparatus finals taking place this weekend Daniel has little time to take it all in. The finals will take place live on BBC one on 17th October and BBC two on 18th October.
All at Opus Energy wish him the very best of luck.
