British Gymnastics have today revealed that some of Britain's most promising young gymnastics will not be competing in the Commonwealth Games 2010 held in Delhi.
Daniel Keatings is amongst the many big names from the UK, such as Beth Tweddle and Louis Smith, that will be unavailable for the competition. British Gymnastics are concerned about the tight scheduling of the competitions in October 2010.
The Common Wealth Games take place from 4-8 October and the World Championships begin on 17 October, with training and preparations in between the scheduling is just too close. A schedule clash isn't the only concern British Gymnastics have, as Technical Director Eddie Van Hoof explains. "It's not just the travel and jet lag but the potential for tummy bugs and diarrhoea that exists in making the trip."
"We just cannot afford to take the risk when so much is at stake," he said
This news comes as a number of high profile athletes have indicated they may not compete in the Delhi games 2010.
