Opus Energy Challenge

Previous Fundraising at Opus Energy

In 2011 Opus Energy raised money for The Heaton-Ellis Trust, Children in Need and Red Nose Day. This was in addition to Opus' fundraising activities for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust, which you can read about below.

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust

Opus Energy supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Trust

During 2010 - 2011 Opus Energy staff undertook various fundraising activities including trekking in Peru, a football tournament, marathons and skydives. In total, just over £20,000 was raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The Trust is the UK's only national charity dealing with all aspects of the disease, which results in internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, becoming clogged with thick sticky mucus, making it hard to breathe and digest food.

Opus Energy handed over their cheque for £20,034 to Sue Piper from the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in December 2011. Presenting a cheque to the Trust were Cara Kelly, Luke Spencer and Jamie Cooper, Opus Energy employees who each undertook fundraising activities.

In 2011/12 Opus are pledging that its employees will raise another £10,000 for the Trust which Opus will then match - another £20,000 for this great cause.

The Cynthia Spencer Hospice

Opus Energy’s chosen charity 2009-2010:

Opus Energy supporting the Friends of Cynthia Spencer Hospice

During the year 2009 - 2010 Opus Energy raised over £10,000 for the Friends of Cynthia Spencer Hospice. Employees embarked on a calendar full of office fun, personal challenges and team events to help raise money for the great work that the hospice do.

The Cynthia Spencer Hospice provides a specialist health service for people whose illness is no longer curable, offering hospice and palliative care services for south Northamptonshire.

Opus Energy handed over their cheque for £10,000 to the Cynthia Spencer Hospice in May 2010. Some of the employees that helped to raise the money through challenges and fun activities were there to present the cheque in the outfits they wore for the events.

The NSPCC

Opus Energy’s chosen charity for 2007-09 was the NSPCC. To raise money for the charity, Opus employees undertook activities including the Waendel Walk and New York marathon. Click here to read their thoughts on winning a place in the race, and how they felt afterwards.

Opus Energy supporting the NSPCCIn the two year’s that Opus Energy had the NSPCC as our chosen charity we managed to raise over £21,000 to help continue the tremendous work they do on a daily basis to protect children from cruelty.

As a Northampton based business we were keen to support the local NSPCC activities which have such a positive impact on the community. The ‘Stopping Risk, Giving Smiles Campaign’ was aimed at helping to put a smile back onto children’s faces that are at risk from child cruelty.

Mountain climbing challenges to raise money for Care International

Care InternationalIn just over five years Opus Energy raised over £30,000 for Care International, a humanitarian aid organisation dedicated to helping poor and marginalised people in 70 countries find a way out of poverty. Various teams have taken both the 3 Peaks (in 2005) and 24 Peaks (in 2006 and 2007) challenges to help Care International which has an unparalleled track record of working with communities across the world to help them find sustainable ways of making a living. For example, they support more than 800,000 people in 39 countries to set up small business activities by giving small loans or running village savings projects.
