As if running a half Marathon wasn't enough, Opus Energy employee, Stephen Elliot, ran it dressed as Santa in aid of raising money for the Cynthia Spencer Hospice. Stephen completed the Bedford Harriers half Marathon in an impressive 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Stephen is still taking sponsorship at his Justgiving page.
As with previous years Opus Energy offered two lucky employees the opportunity
to win an all expenses paid trip to New York to take part in one of the world's
greatest road races, the NYC Marathon 2009. In exchange for this amazing opportunity
the participants committed to raising a minimum of £1,500 for the Cynthia Spencer Hospice.

For a bit of Halloween friday fun and fundraising, staff at Opus Energy dug out the old tights and false teeth to take part in a halloween fancy dress competition. There were prizes for first and second place, as voted for by our employees. There were also cakes on sale for everyone to grab themselves a lunchtime treat!
Thanks to the efforts of Opus Energy employees we raised nearly £250 for the Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
Part
of the Great series of runs the Great South Run is Europe's leading 10 mile
road race which runs through Southsea and Portsmouth's historic naval dockyard
passing HMS Victory and the Mary Rose. This is a fast, flat course and if
a half marathon is too long this is the ideal race for you.
Back in September Kate Barker and David Moorhouse took part in the cycle 4 Cynthia challenge. The participants had 3 different distances to choose from: 5miles, 25miles and for the
more adventurous a 50mile course!!
In total they raised a brilliant: £321.00
The event was billed as ‘The ultimate Corporate Team building entertainment
for you and your colleagues!" and the event was indeed all it was billed
to be.
This event took place at Wicksteed Park, Barton Road, Kettering. The Opus Energy team of 10 strong and slightly crazy individuals took part in games over the course of 3-4 hours which included a variety of wacky challenges using giant colourful inflatables, obstacles and props.
On 9th and 10th May Opus Energy put together a couple of teams to take on the Waendel Walk for the third year running. The international event is open to everyone and with distances ranging from 6km to 42km there are walks for all abilities through the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. The group of 20 people walked together, having a great time, making new friends and raised over £750 for the Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
We kicked off our Cynthia Spencer Hospice fundraising with an Easter bonanza. There was a day long Easter fun day full of quizzes, raffles, Easter egg and bonnet competitions. We gave our employees a gauntlet that if they could raise over £250 in sponsorship by lunchtime, one of our Senior Managers would dress up as an Easter Bunny for the afternoon and hand out Easter eggs! It seems the challenge was too appealing as this target was smashed and our Operations Manager ‘happily’ put on a bunny outfit and gave out Easter eggs as promised.
The day was a great success with everyone getting involved and enjoying themselves; in the end we raised £520 for the Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
