In 2009 Charlie Crossley Cooke, the Managing Director of Opus Energy Ltd, felt inspired by London hosting the 2012 Olympic games. He wanted to do his bit and support a local, Olympic training athlete.
Opus Energy Ltd's search for a passionate and ambitious athlete that demonstrated potential within their sport uncovered Northamptonshire-based Daniel Keatings, who specialises in all disciplines of artistic gymnastics, and excels on the pommel horse.
Daniel is showing huge potential for the 2012 Olympics, already breaking new ground in British men's gymnastics. In 2009 he won Britain's first ever medal in the men's all-around event at the European Championships and a bronze on the pommel horse. That same year he went on to win Britain's first World all-around medal: silver at the World Championships on home turf in London. His 2010 season got off to a flying start too, as Daniel won Britain's first ever gold medal at a major championships, claiming European Championship gold on the pommel horse. Daniel returned from an operation on his cruciate ligament in 2011. With the Olympics approaching, all eyes will be on Daniel during 2012.
