"I won an Opus Energy / Cystic Fibrosis Trust competition to trek in Peru, and get to see Machu Picchu. I thought this would be a great challenge as I have done nothing like this before, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I took great pleasure in participating in. I raised £1,713 for the CF Trust."
Cara Kelly, Credit Co-ordinator
"When I joined Opus and realised that the Company was very active in supporting local and national charities I was really pleased because supporting charitable causes is something I've always enjoyed doing.
"Through Opus I have taken part in the Waendal Walk (slightly misleading title and would be more aptly named the “Waendal Trek with blisters guaranteed”). Many of us took part where the walking distances ranged from 3 miles to 26 miles (I haven't specified the distance I walked and will continue you to keep you all in suspense). Through Opus, we've also taken part in the Skydive which is fair to say was the pinnacle of my personal charitable tasks (with some “Imodium” as the little aircraft steadily gained altitude) and also in Movember with the Credit PDV team (with comments of me resembling a more handsome Burt Reynolds).
"There have been many individual initiatives to raise money for various charities and I am very proud to have taken part in the activities for these causes with some fantastic support from the people taking part, Opus Management and of course the sponsors."
Pankaj Raikundalia, Credit Controller
"I played in a charity football tournament at Goals for Opus Energy. I was really pleased to win the tournament as well as the 'top goal scorer' award. I play a fair amount of football anyway but several of the people within my team hardly ever play so it was good to win the tournament with people of mixed experience and ability. There was quite a lot of pressure when playing from people on the side as there were people encouraging you to win as well as people supporting the opposing teams. This was not only really good fun, but we also raised £315 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust."
Joshua Dawson, Corporate Back Office Agent
"I decided to set up an Opus Energy account with Mazuma, the mobile phone recycling company. It's easy and very rewarding - staff at Opus Energy can donate their old or unwanted mobile phones in exchange for cash, which is then donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Opus Energy staff have donated £278 in 12 months, just from unwanted phones lying around in a junk drawer."
Lee-Anne McFarlane, Collections Specialist
"I was given the opportunity to cycle from London to Paris on behalf of Cystic Fibrosis Trust. I thought this would be a great challenge as I have done lots of running but cycling was something I had not really done for many years. Plus I'd only ever used a mountain bike, so it was quite a change to use a road bike. I'm really proud that I overcame these challenges and as a team we raised £5,054 for the CF Trust."
Stephen Elliott, Sales Administrator
"I was inspired by the Opus Energy Challenge to cycle to work, instead of drive, so I set myself this personal challenge. Opus supported me as they are members of the Cyclescheme. I now cycle 8 miles per day - great for my health, wallet and the environment!"
